Question:
Can I be tested for a learning disability at LBCC?

Answer:
The answer is yes. Enrolled students at LBCC can receive eligibility testing for
learning disability services. Students interested in this testing should contact the
DSP&S office at (562) 938-4558

 

 

Question:
How can Learning Disability testing help me?

Answer:
Students' who are determined eligible for learning disability services based on testing, can receive
a variety of services that enable them to participate more fully in their college classes. These services
could include specialized assistance with note-taking, test-taking, and adaptive technology to name a few.

 

 

Question:
How do I register for Adapted PE?

Answer:
Students wishing to enroll in PEA 1AD or PEA 608 must first complete a Health History Questionnaire
and submit it to the Adapted P.E. program along with a Health Clearance form completed by a physician.
These forms may be obtained from the DSP&S office in A119 (LAC) or from Adapted P.E. in S114
(below the bleachers at Veteran's Stadium). Students may then register via phone, on-line, or in person at DSP&S
during the priority registration period for each semester. Return students may register in advance, or may do
so during the first 2 weeks of the new semester. For additional information, please call 562/938-4075 or 562/938-4558.

What is Disabled Students Programs & Services?

Answer:
Disabled Students Programs & Services (DSP&S ) is a program dedicated to students with a disabilities and their
right to an equal educational experience. We provide a variety of services to help students with a disability
the opportunity to participate in college programs and activities.

 

 

Question:
What services are available from Disabled Students Programs & Services?

Answer:
Here is a sample of some of the services available through DSP&S: specialized orientation, academic/vocational
and personal counseling, pre-registration, registration assistance, mobility assistance, sign language interpreters,
learning disability eligibility assessment, note taking assistance, test-taking assistance, text in alternate format
including large print, Braille and audio, print magnifier/CCTV, computer access equipment and training, TTY phone
assistance, and information and referral.
