| Adapted Physical Education |
Classes are offered featuring P.E. for students who are physically limited. These courses include a program of individual and group exercises and activities to develop motor skills, endurance, strength and self-awareness. Activities will be adapted to the interests, capabilities and limitations of the student.

Students wishing to enroll in Adapted P.E. must first complete a Health History Questionnaire and submit it to the Adapted P.E. program along with a Health Clearance form which must be completed by a physician. These forms may be obtained from the DSP&S office in A119 (LAC), AA119 (PCC) or from Adapted P.E. in S114 (below the bleachers at Veteran's Stadium). Our Adapted P.E. faculty will meet with you to identify your fitness goals and to develop an exercise plan to help you meet your goals. Adapted P.E. faculty and staff will assist you with the registration process. Returning students may register in advance, or may do so during the first 2 weeks of the new semester. | Adaptive Computer Technology (CBIS 633) |
This non-graded course provides assessment, evaluation, training and instruction in the use of assistive computer technology to students with disabilities. Programs available may include JAWS, ZoomText, Kurzweil 3000, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Tracker 2000, Magic Cursor, Screen Doors, and Word Q. Access and training in assistive computer technology will foster full participation in courses or career paths and greater freedom, independence and reliance upon others to participate. | Living Skills for the Mentally Challenged (FACS 607) |
Living Skills for the Mentally Challenged is offered at the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC)- Long Beach.. This non-graded course teaches the skills and attitudes necessary to function as an active member of the community. Development of social skills, leisure time activities and personal hygiene are stressed. In addition, Adapted PE courses are also offered at ARC.

| Communicative Disorders (COMDI 633, 634) |
Beginning and Intermediate Speech Reading courses are designed to assist hearing impaired individuals with lip reading techniques. Special attention is given to communication difficulties of the hearing.

| Counseling 1 |
The Counseling 1 course is designed to help you become successfully achieve your goals at Long Beach City College. In this course you will become familiar with Long Beach City College's educational programs and resources. You will also learn about the key success factors related to college success, and will develop a host of skills needed by today's student with a disability.
Since this is an online course you need to use a computer with internet access to complete the class. You will be asked to read and respond to a variety of information/documents posted on this website. You need to read these documents just as if you were given them in person to read in class.
We will also be asking you to communicate through email and posting your thoughts in a special discussion forum. Once you get the hang of it you will be commenting on a variety of selected topics and issues related to college success.
